Who were they?..... These are some facts about the Maya, Inca, Aztec, and Olmec: They were different groups of indian civilizations with their own unique History, Geography, Economy, Government, Social Structure, Beliefs and Religion, Achievements, and Architecture.
The Maya started in 1000 BC, lived in what is now Guatemala, their cities were linked through trade, their upper class had all the power, their empire lasted 1500 years, each of their gods controlled a different aspect of life, had 2 calendars they built, they built temples sometimes 200 feet high without metal tools, and no one knows how they disappeared!
The Aztec started building their capitol Tenochtitlan (Ten-o-ch-eet-lan) in the year 1325, lived in Mexico, had to pay tribute to their gods, their slaves weren't important at all, there were government offices in the emperor's palace, they sometimes sacrificed 10,000 people a year, had hieroglyphs, and one rock for a temple sometimes took 50,000 men to move.
